The fear of loss is etched in our automatic response system (sympathetic nervous system), and gets triggered anytime a threat of loss comes up. When I received a text this morning from a client who had an appointment with me at 12:30PM asking to change it to 11:00AM, my immediate response was – “Yes, I’ll cancel my 10:00AM class at the Apple store and accommodate him because otherwise I will loose the session.” My second response was – “How dare he change on me last moment…. I’m going to say – NO!” Then, I turned my attention to the breath and asked for help. Consciously following the pace of my breath – and not the pace of stress, brought not even a minute later another possibility. “I can be back at my office at 11:30 and see him then.” I was at ease when I texted him back, and didn’t give it another thought. Enhancing my parasympathetic nervous system, I accessed my breath intelligence and loved-all-the-way.
* Notice constriction in your body, struggle in your breath and where you feel emotionally stuck…. open your heart with compassion & move your breath – (Standing like a tree & making space)
