You are here: / / Follow Your Breath
I always loved the saying “be careful what you ask for, cuz you may get it.” The only thing is to remember in these very busy days what we ask for, and how do we receive it? What kind of attention do we pay? Everyday I ask life – my breath to show me what I need to learn today. This morning on my walk I hardly left the house when two people asked me for instructions. One for the nearest subway, and the other for the nearest bagel place. I felt grateful for being trusted enough to be asked, as the second man said to me “You should wear a sign that says – “Ask me”, I chuckled and said – “I am”. You see, as they were asking me for instructions I was following my breath and trusting in my soul, thinking how I’d like to develop an inner GPS. This weekend I drove four hours to an amazing lake upstate NY, and follow the instructions of a GPS. It was like taking a flight, and trusting the pilot to get you there safely. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there was a divide that could guided us inwardly to where we’re going, and reduce the stress of worrying and insecurity of getting lost? Well, I’m working on it… and in the meanwhile I follow the pace of my breath to get there, which is often to the present.
