This morning I feel an appreciation for the reminder that no matter what’s happening, what’s at hand, I can connect to my Head-Quarters, or as I would rather call it heart & breath-head quarters. I see that as a great asset and gift, that speaks to the challenge of being human, trying to figure out the intricacy & complexity of life, from the head alone, in a state of stress & distorted perception. It is so tempting if not addictive, to try and do it in isolation, all alone. What a joke… how far can you go before you lose it, before you stumble, fall, kick, get injured, act out, and eventually kill or get killed.

I’m very sensitive to killing energy of any kind. Or as I call it the killing of the soul. Perhaps because of what I’v been through and where I’m from, I find the repercussions of killing the soul are so quick. I feel that any killing of energy, even of rodents in my house, can trigger terrible feelings of loss & grief.
But I live in the world, and don’t like the idea of hearing them running in the kitchen at night, or finding their droppings in cabinets. So, I avoid glue traps or anything that’s going to torture them, and I still consult with the heart-breath-headquarters before doing anything. In so doing, I found out that they come from the basement, and that making sure that the basement is clear, ensures them not coming up to the third floor where I live.
Can you see where I’m going with this? Yes, to the situation in the middle east. When i hear my israeli friends describing the inevitability of the killing of children & innocent people in Gaza, because they are used by the Hammas as human shield. I don’t have the answers to the complexity of that situation. All I know is that my heart is bleeding when I see the killing of innocent life and that I go to the heart & breath-headquarters for support and for sustenance.
I pray that those who are in the frontline on either side, have a way of checkin in with their heart & breath-headquarters. I believe that in the long run, everyone will be safer and sounder, and that peace comes from the heart and healing comes from the breath.
