I would like to encourage you to take care of yourself, especially if you are overly sensitive, feeling miserable, oppressed or depressed. Breathe love, create good energy and share it with others. If I can do it – you can do it too. I have always felt flawed about being too sensitive, moody and frail, especially as a boy growing up in a macho culture. I could feel extra affected by a tone of voice, a look, the wrong word, a loss, and a meanness. I developed a big fear of my sensitivity because several times it landed me in severe depressions that could last between a year and two, unable to stop obsessing about suicide, and trying to kill myself several times because I couldn’t endure the emotional anguish and the mental pain I felt. In those times my brain seemed to switch over and turn against me to the extent that I could’t tolerate being alone. in that state, everything I love, life, people, nature, food, music – repels me and becomes unbearable.
Over the years I haven’t had much success with medication. The side affects of anti-depressants and the horrific feeling of displacement with ECT felt almost worse than the depression itself. But in no way am I advocating agains medication, ECT or therapy. It’s just a matter of finding
what works for you, and sticking with that choice for as long as it works, and if it doesn’t have compassion for yourself and keep trying.
I discovered self-compassion, breath, movement and meditation, as an affective way of managing depression, stress, anxiety and fears, and have been clear of depression for the past seven years. I still have daily episodes of over reacting & hypersensitivity, but with the practice of the BREAZE, I can sustain my good energy and release negative emotions as long as I remember to take care of myself, breathe~Love to my sensitivities and partner my care with the breath.
I dedicate The BREAZE to all people, but especially to children, young adults and elders who suffer the agony of mental illness & depression, to practice daily transforming your misery & oppression to joy, oxygen & ease – your MOJOE. Make it a priority to follow your MOJOE, and live in sacred celebration. By breathing love and calming your world you help create a calmer, more loving world.
