Knowledge is one of the most seductive temptations of the human experience. No wonder that the first drama-series tele-novella took place in the Garden of Eden. When Adam & Eve (where the hell was Steve?) were tempted by the snake to eat the forbidden apple from the tree of knowledge, they lost their sublime sense of security & innocence, hid their genitals from their creator (hello?) and were banished from the garden’s abundant joy, oxygen & ease – JOE, to a life of misery & oppression – MO. (And if you were Jewish – you got an extra dose of worrying -:)
Take this story, and bring it to the present moment, and it is the exact replica of how the Ego-Fear-Mind works. Something happens that triggers your relationship with the unknown of misery & oppression. I have a ‘Memorial day cold’ – coughing my brains out and intense headaches. I basically have two choices:
1. To figure it out in my head: “why did I get this cold?”, “whose is to blame?”, “shame, shame, shame”, stress myself out with struggle, misery & oppression, and with the occasional “aha moment” of some conspiracy theory that makes me feel temporarily drunk on ‘Oh, now I know why’, but continuing to feel miserable & oppressed…
2. Notice that I’m sliding into the ‘hell-on-earth’ misery & oppression…. Choose against the odds to be one of the ‘chosen people’…. Partner my life with my higher power… Open my heart to the breath… Generate compassion 4 being human…. Wake up from the self-centered dream of the ego-fear-mind…. Transform misery & oppression – MO, 2 joy, oxygen & ease – JOE.
I hold transforming MO 2 JOE as sacred, and am always ready to celebrate the creation of my MOJOE. I have no doubt that my body stands a better chance to heal itself with sacred celebration, and feel grateful for being in open~curiosity rather than in fixed-knowledge. Spiritual growth of the soul follows surrendering your struggles to the pace of the breath.
