In the busy world we live, how often do you get to slow down, breathe & just be? How frequently do you ask yourself the question – “How is my heart?”and stay long enough with yourself to actually look & see, before you have a knee-jerk automatic answer, and rush for the next task?
There is something transformative & healing about taking care of yourself and paying attention to the breath without an agenda, allowing yourself to be in the unknown of the moment without controlling it, but rather with openness & curiosity of finding out how your heart is feeling, and trust in the answer you get from the breath in the moment as the truth of your being – your presence.
Your presence is the gift of being a human being rather than a human doing. It’s natures way of rewarding us for connecting with the miracle that life is in the breath @ the moment, a natural anti- depressants & anti-anxiety, an endorphin of aliveness, which keeps us calm, centered & clear, connected and joyful.
When I came home from lunch yesterday, I found an email from the organization I am traveling to Sudan with. They asked me to sign a waver that relinquishes them from any responsibility if anything would happen to me there, listing every thing that could possibly go wrong -:) I felt panicked – “Why on earth are you doing this to yourself?” Said the voice of fear “Are you crazy to put yourself in harms way?”. Eventually I was able to ask myself “How is your heart feeling now?”, and repeatedly opened-my-heart-to-the-breath-in-the-moment. After a couple of minutes the fear subsided and I could rest at the place of refuge in my heart @ the center of my being.
